How is commercial starch made from cassava?
Commercial starch can be further classified into food starch and industrial starch according to different requirements on the whiteness, fineness, protein content and ash content. In the food field, commercial starch can be used as a thickener, stabilizer, emulsifier and etc., while in the industrial sector, it can be used in paper manufacturing, textile processing, pharmaceutical production and etc. Cassava tubers, with their high starch content and low price, are treated as ideal materials for commercial starch extraction. According to the high-added value of commercial starch and the low investment of cassava processing, lots of investors start to consider how to make commercial starch from cassava. This article will show you how commercial starch is made from cassava in cassava starch processing factory.
Commercial starch made from cassava
Commercial starch is made from cassava by means of cleaning, washing, crushing, fiber separation, desanding, starch milk concentration and refining, dewatering and drying. In traditional way, people do all the works by hand. But if you want to produce high quality commercial starch, an automatic starch production line is necessary.
Production line for making commercial starch from cassava consists of three sections: cleaning section, processing section and drying section.
Cleaning section
In the process of making commercial starch from cassava in the cassava starch processing factory, the cleaning section means giving a pretreatment on raw cassava roots. Newly harvested cassava tubers are attached with a lot of impurities. Cassava should be cleaned well before deep processing. Firstly cassava will be put into a dry sieve machine for removing surface impurities, and secondly a paddle washing machine will be adopted for the complete cleaning and washing.
Processing section
After cassava roots are cleaned, the next section of making commercial starch from cassava in the cassava starch processing factory is to make deep processing, which includes cutting, crushing, separating, desanding, and refining. Cassava roots will be cut into small pieces and then crushed into fine mash by cassava rasper machine. Cassava rasper machine, with high crushing rate, can ensure that bond starch can be released as much as possible. And then multi-stage centrifuge sieve group will remove fibers from the mash, and then a de-sander machine is used thereafter to eliminate sand debris. To ensure high starch quality, 18-stage hydrocyclone station is installed to concentrate and refine starch milk.

Drying section
After purified starch milk is obtained from processing section, the next is drying the wet commercial starch. Peeler centrifuge and flash dryer are used here. Peeler centrifuge can dehydrate starch milk and get wet starch powder with moisture content around 38%, and then flash dryer will dry it and finally get dried starch with moisture around 12%. To ensure the fineness of final cassava starch, sieving machine is used to separate big starch particles.
The above is brief introduction to how commercial starch is made from cassava in cassava starch processing factory. If you have such a plan to set up a cassava starch factory and produce high profit commercial starch, feel free to leave your message here for further communication.
